Here’s one from the archives I only happened upon recently … anyone know where it is … and when?
Bob Foulks just sent me the secondΒ image — but this gig was a full three months before my bass was re-sprayed — so it must have been ‘colorized’.

Saw this on the useless web. Reminded me of someone (no offense intended)

Yes, I stumbled on that clip not so long ago. Not sure I’ve ever fantasized about thumb popping — Now, if you were talking about the guitar solo from “Badge” — oops, what a giveaway.

If my math is correct, next summer will be 40 years since that gig. Sounds like a good time for the Old Man to get the band back together for tour.
I tell you what …. you tell him π
Hillary going to prison would probably be more likely.
Correct.

This should work.

That looks awfully familiar.
Happy “Brexit Day”.
What a surprise this morning π
Quite a surprise this morning. Farage had conceded defeat when I went to bed.
With the advantageous exchange rates, it might be time to purchase one of them fishy-colored basses.
Yes, let’s negotiate a trade agreement. I think we can do it to the US without the Value Added Tax too (that’s like your State sales taxes). Get in touch with Barry at the Bass Centre for a price inc, shipping. I’ll make sure you get a free signed boo, a set of string and a gig bag thrown in. Hands across the water π
First, I’ll have to clear this purchase with the Department of Ancillary Procurements and the Bureau of Domiciliary Space Management.
I suggest you purchase a bunch of flowers for the Department and take them out to dinner.

Oh.
I remain confident that I can do better than laundry and dishes and therefore our efforts to bridge the Atlantic will succeed. And in so doing, we shall set, by example, a course for a prosperous future for our two proud countries, or what little remains of them.
And you’re not asking for a guitar that cost several thousand dollars. (Though I remember having a similar problem with bicycles when I was married.)
Before Brexit $100 would buy 67 pounds. As of yesterday it was 77 and will be moving towards parity. So, Roddy could use the same argument that many women use: “It’s on sale!”
There’ll never be a better time to buy.
Using Photoshop, I created this visual representation of the recent events. Enjoy:

Very good.

A rather high-tech looking bass.
A Status Graphite. Very much of its time. Doesn’t sound too bad does it?
Sounds great. Works well with their sound. That’s the one you sold your Strat for?
Remain or leave? “Experts” on the tv say it will be remain. Maybe the fix is in.
The fix is definitely in 48% of the population believe the vote will be rigged. Just as it will for Hillary π
I actually swapped my Strat for 3 Status basses! — 4-string, 5-string and fretless. It’s the fretless one that I paly on the Attractions’ solo “Work” project with Brian Griffin.
I’ve never heard that recording. Difficult to find anything about it.
A young British fellow I know stopped in and I asked him about it. He said his brother will vote to remain and his parents to leave. Cut down generational lines.
I’ve gotta hand it to Trump…he’s rubbing her nose in her corrupt bullshit.
Looks like Mum and Dad won, crusty old sods.
Did you also play that bass during your stint in Carlene Carter’s band in the late 80s? I saw the Mean Fiddler show.
I think I was in Status mode at that time — but if you remember that gig, you probably know better than I do. Good old, Carlene — she looks like her mum June now. Just as her mum looked like Carlene in her younger days. It’s hard to tell which is which if you don’t know the date of the photograph.
I love this! Such a creative instrumental arrangement.
I don’t understand how we got from that, to shit like this:

It’s one of the most popular “songs” on the radio at the moment. It has about the melodic and rhythmic creativity of a conveyor belt.
544 million view a bit of old electro-drum programming and someone blowing down a bottle. Jeez, it makes “Pills and Soap” sound like Beethoven’s 9th — and I didn’t even play on that!
ha – ha! Pills and Soap, i.e. “that song I always skip over.”
How about this piece of plodding rubbish I heard on the radio yesterday:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTOC_q0NLTk
“Hey guys – how will we make our piece of plodding rubbish stand out from all the other plodding rubbish?”
“Have someone noodle a bit on the piano.”
“BRILLIANT!”
AKI…You should work in a studio for a while. That track will sound brilliant.
We feel your pain π

I was convinced that we were supporting Rod Stewart and the Faces at that gig! Thank goodness I don’t remember Santana.
Thank goodness you got rid of that Steve Manson and his pipe organ too.
I see Quiver played there in ’71 along with the Faces, PF and others.
Ah — well done, Mike. The two gigs had morphed into one in my head. Good job I’ve never tried to write my memoirs.
September 9, 1977, Crystal Palace Bowl
They sent you to the spam folder, Bob — probably because it’s not a ‘private’ e-mail address. So I’ve answered you 3 times now!
Just trying to help.
Well, you succeeded.
Looks like pre-pink bass color, so that should narrow it down somewhat.
Not so — I would’ve agreed with you but someone just sent me a nice colour photo of the same gig. No, hang on — you’re right. I didn’t have that bass sprayed until three months after that pic. Which means that the other pic has been ‘colourized’!
Crystal Palace Garden Party, 1977?
Yep.
Hey Bruce,
Just noticed Sky Arts are re-running the ‘Almost Blue’ South Bank Show doc tonight 10pm. I think it’s the first time it’s been on UK tv since ’81. I remember watching it originally and thinking it was great. All my mates at school were into the new electronica, new romantics or The Teardrop Explodes and there’s me watching the band rip through’ Sittin and thinkin’. Also remember you resplendent in flashy waistcoat if I’m not mistaken π
Thanks Neil, it sounds like you enjoyed the experience more than I did π
Oops, 1977!
Yep, September 10th.
Hi Bruce,
Finally one I think I can answer – Crystal Palace Bowl, somewhere around ’81? Andy
